Since round area rugs are not as common as rectangle area rugs, they offer a unique decorating element to a room's theme. The color combination's that you choose depends on the color that already exist in the room currently. Try to locate the colors of your furniture and walls in the rug. Not as the base color, but as the accent colors. As a general rule the lighter the color the more it will open a room creating a spacious feel and a dark colored rug will create a warm environment.

Round area rugs are both handmade as well as machine made and the type you buy depends on where you are placing the rug. A handmade rug is very labor intensive and should reflect a great deal of pride by the make and the one purchasing the rug. These rugs are usually made with durable materials like wool, silk, and cotton and are part of the room's artwork. The quality of the craftsmanship and materials are what makes these rugs last a long time. Still you don't have to be a collector to get an affordable area rug to show off

For heavy traffic area and places in the home that will see a lot of bacteria and dirt a machine rug is more appropriate. These types of rugs use man-made materials like nylon and Polypropylene that are durable and are very affordable so they are a perfect choice for indoor outdoor rugs and there is no problem washing them, moving them around the home or tossing them for new ones

The main advantage that round rugs have is their unique shape. This adds a design element that can be different from the norm. But the shape is not the only thing that will add to the room, the area rug must have a high degree of artwork and draw a person's eye like the rest of the pieces of furniture in the room. The circular shape can be used to soften a modern room's cold appearance as well as widened a room the is long.
